14 Best Diptyque Fragrances For Women – Top Picks 2021

The house of Diptyque is a popular fragrance house, loved for its fresh and natural scents. As of now, they have over 70 perfumes under their name, but what are the best Diptyque fragrances for women?

The House Of Diptyque And Its Fragrances

Diptyque is a French fragrance house that was founded all the way back in 1961. The house was established by three artists, Yves Coueslant, Desmond Knox-Leet, and Christiane Gautrot and the very first boutique was located at 34 Boulevard Saint Germain Street.

The brand started off by selling home furnishing products, but in 1968, they released their first fragrance. This was simply called l’Eau (which is on this list!), which is still sold to this day!

Over the many years, Diptyque has released a bunch more perfumes, made in collaboration with some of the most respected perfumers in the world. Nowadays, they’re best known for their grounded and natural perfumes, which really sets them apart from the other houses.

Below are listed some of the best Diptyque fragrances for women, in no particular order!

1. Volutes

Volutes is one of the sweeter offerings by Diptyque and has a wonderfully warm and inviting scent. This perfume was made by Fabrice Pellegrin and was launched in 2012.

  • Top notes: Tobacco, Honey, Iris, and Dried Fruits.
  • Middle notes: Hay, Immortelle, Saffron, Pink Pepper, and Black Pepper.
  • Base notes: Benzoin, Opoponax, Myrrh, and Styrax

What Does Diptyque Volutes Smell Like?

The opening of Volutes is warm and sweet with the note of tobacco on the forefront. The tobacco is one of the main stars of this perfume, but it’s done in a very soft and subtle way as to not make it too overpowering.

Shortly after the opening, a sweet and dense undertone of dried fruits starts to appear, adding to the rich sweetness of the tobacco. Along with the fruits is the note of honey, once again adding a thick layer of sweetness to the mix.

This all might sound as if this is a very sweet and overpowering perfume, but all the notes are done in a very subtle way. And on top of that, there are also notes such as hay and iris present. These soften out the sweetness and add a dry layer to the mix.

Overall, Volutes might be one of the best and easiest-to-wear tobacco perfumes for women. It’s blended to perfection and it will never be overpowering. That being said, it is still a sweet tobacco fragrance, so it might not be your best bet for the spring or summer.

In the dry down, the ambergris starts to show itself. The ambergris adds a ‘wet’ and ‘damp’ feeling to the scent, leaving you with a fresh and atmospheric-smelling perfume.

No long after will the vetiver start to appear. The vetiver is clean and fresh, but still contains some of those woody aspects. Along with the vetiver also comes a fruity scent. This adds a natural sweetness to the mix, but never really takes away from the vetiver or citruses.

As the perfume dries down, the citruses start to fade away, leaving you with a scent that primarily smells of clean and earthy vetiver and warm cedarwood. These two woody notes make for a wonderful ending that perfectly ties in with the opening.

Are Diptyque Fragrances Worth It?

The house of Diptyque creates high-quality fragrances and offers them at high prices. The fragrances themself are long-lasting, smell fantastic, and smell great. This makes a Diptyque fragrance worth it!

Diptyque is a niche fragrance house, which means that their fragrances are seen as more luxurious. And that definitely shines through in the price. The average Diptyque fragrance is much more expensive than your typical designer fragrance.

However, Diptyque does create a lot of interesting and unique perfumes. A lot of scents that Diptyque makes aren’t really found elsewhere, adding to the appeal of a Diptyque perfume.

In the end, though, whether or not a fragrance is worth it to you really just comes down to you. Do you think paying a high price for a certain fragrance is worth it? If yes, then by all means go for it. If no, it might be best to look for a different perfume.

Alternatively, you can also try out a decant instead. A decant is basically a smaller bottle filled up with the original perfume. This way, you can get your hands on the fragrance without having to pay for a full bottle. If you’d like to learn more about decants, where to buy them, and how they will save you money, you can read this article here!

Despite the high price tag, I do think a Diptyque fragrance is worth it. They smell amazing, they are unique, they are long-lasting, and they are versatile. What more do you want?
