6 Best Valentino Fragrances For Men

The house of Valentino is a great fragrance house, perhaps best known for it’s dark, gourmand fragrances. Despite not having the largest selection of fragrances, the house of Valentino surely has some great ones to offer. But what are the best Valentino fragrances for men?

The House Of Valentino And Its Fragrances

The house of Valentino is an Italian fragrance house, founded in 1959 by Valentino Garavani. Before starting his own brand, Valentino Garavani has worked for a few other, large fashion brands. However, in 1959, he decided to start his own brand. In 1962, Valentino became a staple in the fashion industry, and since 1978, the house of Valentino also started to create fragrances.

The very first Valentino fragrance was simply called ‘Valentino’. This was a women’s fragrance. In 1991, the house of Valentino introduced their first men’s fragrance, called Valentino Vendetta Uomo. Ever since then, the house of Valentino has created many fragrances, and nowadays, they’re perhaps best known for their gourmand-like fragrances.

Valentino’s most popular fragrance line is called the ‘Valentino Uomo’ line, which has inspired many flankers. These also make up for most of their men’s fragrances as well. With all their great fragrances, you might wonder, what are the best Valentino fragrances for men?

1. Valentino Uomo Intense

Scent: Valentino Uomo Intense is a beautiful, rich, and dark fragrance with a sweet, leathery scent. This fragrance opens with a sweet, slightly fruity scent. Quickly after this opening, you can notice a strong, powdery scent of iris. Added to this is the rich, creamy scent of tonka bean. This adds a nice sweetness to the fragrance. The base of this fragrance adds even more sweetness, in the form of vanilla, as well as a leathery scent. Overall, this is a rich, sweet, leathery fragrance that smells absolutely fantastic.

Notes: The top notes of Valentino Uomo Intense are mandarin and clary sage. The middle notes are tonka bean and iris. The base notes are vanilla and leather.

Best for: Valentino Uomo Intense is a fantastic fragrance to wear during the colder months. The rich, dark, and sweet scent of this fragrance would be a little too overpowering for the warmer days, but for the colder days, it’s perfect. During those colder days, you can easily wear this fragrance casually, but there’s also a more professional vibe to this fragrance, making it great for formal wear. 2. Valentino Uomo Born In Roma

Scent: Valentino Uomo Born In Roma is the newest flanker of the Valentino Uomo line. This time, it’s Valentino’s take on the bubblegum-like fragrances for men. This fragrance opens with a sweet, slightly aquatic scent. There’s a subtle salty undertone detectable as well. After a little while, you can start to notice a fresh, yet spicy scent. The base of this fragrance adds some woody notes, which goes great with the sweet, slightly aquatic opening. Overall, this isn’t the most unique fragrance on the market, but it’s definitely not a bad one.

Notes: The top notes of Valentino Uomo Born In Roma are violet leaves, salt, and mineral notes. The middle notes are ginger and sage. The base notes are vetiver and woody notes.

Best for: Valentino Uomo Born In Roma is a fantastic fragrance to wear during the spring and summer. Despite this being a slightly sweeter fragrance, it does it in a very subtle and light way, as Paco Rabanne Invictus does. During those warmer days, you can wear this fragrance casually, but this fragrance also makes for a great clubbing fragrance. This is also a true compliment getter with the ladies, so you can also wear this to a date if you’d like. If you’re interested in this fragrance, you can check it out over here on Amazon!

3. Valentino Uomo

Scent: Valentino Uomo is the original Valentino fragrance that inspired many flankers. This fragrance is a beautiful gourmand fragrance with a sweet scent. This fragrance opens with a soft citrusy scent mixed with leather. This then quickly turns into a much sweeter, gourmand scent. With notes like hazelnut, chocolate, and coffee, you get a rich, dark, and sweet scent. The leather from the opening stays throughout the fragrance as well, giving this gourmand scent a different and unique angle.

Notes: The top notes of Valentino Uomo are myrtle and bergamot. The middle notes are hazelnut, chocolate, and roasted coffee beans. The base notes are cedar and leather.

Best for: Valentino Uomo is a fantastic fragrance to wear during the colder months. The sweet, gourmand scent will go perfectly with those cold winter days. During those days, this fragrance goes perfectly as a casual fragrance. However, this gourmand fragrance also works great as a night out fragrance or even as a date fragrance. With its many uses, this fragrance is definitely worth it. If you’re interested in this fragrance, you can check it out over here on Amazon!

4. Valentino Uomo Noir Absolu Oud Essence

Scent: Valentino Uomo Noir Absolu Oud Essence is a beautiful fragrance with a dark, rich, and woody scent. This fragrance opens with a strong scent of both oud and spices. This creates a pungent scent, but it quickly mellows down into a very beautiful, warm scent. With it’s leathery and woody notes, you get an interesting scent that mostly goes into the woody direction. Nevertheless, this is a fantastic fragrance with a dark, warm, and rich scent.

Notes: The notes of Valentino Uomo Noir Absolu Oud Essence are saffron, cedar, sandalwood, myrtle, leather, and oud.

Best for: Valentino Uomo Noir Absolu Oud Essence is a fantastic fragrance to wear during the winter. The rich, warm, and dark scent of this fragrance goes perfectly with those cold wintery days. Besides casual wear, this fragrance also has an elegant and luxurious vibe, making it great for any formal occasion. Overall, this fragrance is quite versatile, however, it might work a little better with more grown-up men. If you’re interested in this fragrance, you can check it out over here on Amazon (it is listed as a women’s fragrance, when, in fact, it’s a unisex fragrance)!

5. Valentino Uomo Acqua

Scent: Valentino Uomo Acqua is a fresher version of the original Valentino Uomo. This time, it has a more fresh, green, and aromatic scent, while still retaining the original DNA. The opening of this fragrance has the same opening of iris as the original. However, this is accompanied by a fresh and fruity scent of mandarin. The base of this fragrance has the note of leather, giving the fragrance a slightly darker scent. Still, though, it mostly smells fresh and somewhat green and fruity.

Notes: The top notes of Valentino Uomo Acqua are mandarin and tomato. The middle notes are patchouli and sage. The base notes are iris and leather.

Best for: Valentino Uomo Acqua is a fantastic flanker of the original and it doesn’t really compete with the other Valentino Uomo’s. This fragrance is more of a summer fragrance, due to the fresh nature of this fragrance. During those warmer months, this makes for a great casual fragrance. But, due to the iris and leather, this fragrance also has a slightly luxurious vibe to it, making it great for formal wear. 6. Valentino Uomo Noir Absolu

Scent: Valentino Uomo Noir Absolu is a dark, mysterious fragrance with a sweet, slightly spicy scent. This fragrance opens with a slightly powdery, but mostly warm, spicy scent. This scent stays like this for a little while, only to become a little smoother. This smoother scent still has the same mysterious, dark scent to it, just a little less strong. The base of this fragrance adds the note of sandalwood, which provides the fragrance with a woody, slightly sweet scent.

Notes: The top notes of Valentino Uomo Noir Absolu are cinnamon and pepper. The middle notes are olibanum and incense. The base note is sandalwood.

Best for: Valentino Uomo Noir Absolu is another fantastic winter fragrance from the house of Valentino. Just like most Valentino fragrances, this one works perfectly as a casual daytime fragrance. Make sure you dress up a little nicer, though, as that would fit the scent of this fragrance much better. This fragrance also works great as a nighttime or date fragrance throughout the year as well. Are Valentino Fragrances Worth It

The house of Valentino is a great fragrance house, and despite their slightly smaller collection, they still managed to produce some of the nicer fragrances on the market. As you’ve probably noticed, the fragrances on this list are all from the ‘Valentino Uomo’ line. This is actually the only real men’s fragrance line from the house of Valentino. And those ‘Valentino Uomo’ fragrances are all based around a gourmand, sweet fragrance. Therefore, most men’s Valentino fragrances have a similar type of scent.

Nevertheless, there’s some variety, as Valentino Uomo Born In Roma and Valentino Uomo Acqua have a much fresher scent. But whatever fragrance you might go for from this house, you’re sure to get a great fragrance for a great price. Valentino fragrances are priced very reasonably and won’t break your bank at all.

The price, paired with the great scents and their versatility makes for a fantastic fragrance house to purchase from. I’d recommend you take a look at your current collection and see which Valentino fragrance would fit in perfectly!
